Now just because Painter is and should be ranked #1, that does not mean other software is "entirely," less than. Now that you have your history lesson (haha) and understand why Painter is so much more, I'll rank some software in tiers of: best, solid & fair "overall," (for painting & drawing only). Seriff (who makes the Affinity line of software) is probably doing the best job, of the new art/design revolutionary companies. However, so long as these new Art/Design software company's like Ambient Design, don't get too greedy, they will increase in popularity. Adobe, Corel, Autodesk, ect., still dominate and that won't end anytime soon. from dominating the Design Industry (from painting, to editing photos, videos, website design, on & on). Reasons already explained, plus a bunch of other little things have also contributed to this revolution of new and in some cases art/design software that is beginning to challenge Adobe & Co. This was evident a couple of months ago when Adobe attempted to increase the price of their Photographers Package. Cost of software (like Corel's painter) and Adobe's "rent our software." In particular, Adobe has received a huge backlash to their pricing. In the last several years, you have seen a revolution (so to speak), with many new Software companies like Ambient Design, Seriff, Escape Emotions, Ect., creating some fantastic art/design software. Consider Painter Corel's flag ship software these days too, for many professional artists. When you could still buy Adobe software (some years ago), I can assure you, it was just as expensive (if not more), than Corel Painter. That all said, Painter isn't expensive considering you "own," the software vs. That's where & why you have a big price tag. However, in the digital art world for a digital based traditional art media, Corel's Painter is regarded as the overall best software. Corel actually makes or has bought up (like Adobe), several design & other software companies. ![]() ![]() for their respective primary functions in artistic design. ![]() But I know nobody even looked at this show. We used pushpins to hang them up, and they kept falling down I must have picked those pieces up a hundred times. Finally, he’d hang them up so that they were sticking out from the wall. Next he would do drawings of heads and people on parts of the pyramids, and he did a lot of marbleizing, oil on water. Then he would open it up one way or another, and some pyramids would be sticking out. He would take the paper, and then he would fold it, and somehow he got a lot of pyramids out of it. He would start with a square piece of paper. (UW20) According to Giallo in Unseen Warhol, the April group show featured Warhol's "pen and ink line drawings, all simple, all outlines" that "were just pinned up to the wall, about eight by ten inches, nothing framed at all" which incorporated Warhol's "blotting technique." Giallo recalled in the Unseen Warhol interview that the 'origami' show was Warhol's second show at the Loft and was his first solo show at the gallery. That description was applied to "Andy's second show" at the Loft during an interview with Vito Giallo in Unseen Warhol, in which the pyramidal shapes were referred to by the interviewer as as Warhol's "Origami" In Andy Warhol's New York, Thomas Kiedrowski describes Warhol's contribution to the first show as an installation of pyramidal shapes that had fallen to the floor. ![]() We'd keep it, or, as Andy would say, 'It'sĪndy Warhol exhibited at the Loft at least three times - two group shows that opened on Apand and a solo show that opened on October 10, 1954. I think if their MoltenVK project is running behind but still 75%+ done by release, you'd see it come out post-release anyway. Stellaris doesn't have proper UI scaling because the engine wasn't built with it in mind and it's been repeatedly explained as too difficult/expensive to change by the devs). Paradox is a big question mark because they do have a history of supporting games post-release for a decade, but even they shy away from big post-release major engine changes (e.g. I think I've mostly seen major engine changes post-release in subscription MMOs and most other companies just let their games 'die out' on newer systems that don't work with them (the 32-bit change hit about 15-20% of my Steam library). Considering the scope of changes involved when you replace your graphics engine like that, it is uncommon to see companies do that. There's nothing theoretically stopping them from releasing a non-native version and porting to a native version later. With Silicon Macs, you need to do extra steps to make it natively compatible and it becomes a question on whether the increased cost is worth it. With Intel Macs you didn't have to do too much effort to support the system if you were using OpenGL, hence why Mac gaming became largely viable for the past decade. Certain types of games are less exposed to those changes, but the bigger or more complicated the game is, the more likely ongoing support issues will crop up. Apple also is notorious for aggressively changing their APIs and dropping backwards compatibility for features, which means if you develop on Mac, you need to watch out every yearly OS update to see what feature you were relying on is being replaced with something else. I don't know much about MoltenVK, only that they're trying to maintain a cross-platform API without any help from Apple.
